The University of Houston was founded in 1927 and is located in the historic Third Ward of the city of Houston. Today, it is the largest public research university in the city of Houston and the third largest public university in the entire state of Texas.
The student body consists of over 47,000 students, while the faculty roster exceeds 2,800. There are 276 undergraduate and graduate program offerings and 36 highly-distinguished research centers on campus.
The university has made strides in diversity and inclusivity on campus. It has been proudly designated a Hispanic-serving Institution (HSI) as well as an Asian-American and Native American Pacific Islander-serving Institution (AANAPISI). In total, the student body ranks second in the nation for its diversity and is a proud home of students from over 130 countries.
It is led by University Chancellor and President Renu Khator.
