The Houston school system is a robust and expansive one. According to the Greater Houston Partnership, there are 60 school districts, dozens of charter schools, and approximately 200 private schools. The Houston Independent School District (Houston ISD) is the largest in the state and the seventh largest across the nation.

Houston features several nationally-ranked colleges and universities; including: the University of Houston (the state’s largest public university), Rice University (private), and Houston Community College.
